Wrestling Season is finally here! Week 1 Dual Comparisons

Here are the week 1 dual comparisons between Division I teams. The highlight of the weekend will be the matchup between Iowa State and South Dakota State.

When looking through these comparisons, you’ll also be able to see what the WrestleStat prediction engine thinks will happen with these duals. It will show the predicted outcome of each individual match, as well as the dual result. How close/accurate will this be in it’s inaugural season?

Without further ado, here they are:

WrestleStat Pickem Contest has started!

I am releasing the week 1 pickem contest feature matches a couple days early….I’m a little anxious for this season to get underway 🙂

Same rules as the past 2 years. There are 20 feature matches to choose from. You can submit picks for anywhere from 0, to all 20 picks. Keep in mind, you have to make a selection in at least 10 (1/2) of the feature matches in order for your score to be counted in the weekly and season long leaderboards.

Right now, it looks like there are going to be 15 total weeks for the pickem contest (16 weeks, but no selections for week 9). So that would mean you’ll have to make a selection in at least 150 feature matches in order for your score to count.

Remember, there will be prizes for the top 3 people at the end of the season.

Thanks everyone, enjoy!

Did you see that match?

Now you can via WrestleStat!

With the risk of not getting done one major piece of the re-write before the season starts, I sacrificed one night of work and did something else for fun. You can now add/watch YouTube videos of matches directly from WrestleStat.

When viewing the match results on a wrestlers page, there’s now an “action” button (similar to the one on the team roster pages) where you can add a YouTube link to a particular match. Once a link is saved and approved, there will be a link next to the respective match result on the wrestlers profile page that will navigate you in a new window to the YouTube match.

This is another way where I’m trying to make it more enjoyable and easier for wrestling fans to get information on their favorite wrestlers. I know personally I’m more likely to look at these matches if there’s a direct link to watch the videos….I’m lazy.

I went ahead and added at least 1 match video for each of the top wrestlers, according to WrestleStat’s rankings.

Here’s a link to each of the wrestlers profiles pages where you can start watching/adding videos:

Thomas Gilman
Nathan Tomasello
Dean Heil
Zain Retherford
Jason Nolf
Isaiah Martinez
Bo Jordan
Gabe Dean
J’Den Cox
Kyle Snyder
